Hydro-Energy

At last! Energy generation information that makes sense. Making use of the copious yet neglected water mills throughout the UK.

And it got me thinking…

What about the canal system? Everyday, boats go up and down the canal and the locks fill up and empty again: a source of power generation. OK, so this is not happening all the time - but the locks also create a second source.  When the locks are full, the water has to overflow. A calal is a series of waterfalls.

There you have it, a series of mini hydro-electric generators at each lock all along the canal all feeding into the grid.

I’m sure someone must have already loooked into this…?
